Aiguille du Midi/Mont Blanc
Chamonix Mont-Blanc, the internationally famous Capital of Skiing and Mountaineering, is also, and above all, a multi-faceted ski resort.
From Chamonix, soar over the forest to reach the Plan de l’Aiguille (2317 m). Admire the Glacier des Bossons, the Mont-Blanc, the Aiguille Verte, the Drus and the Aiguilles de Chamonix. Then take a second cable-car which will take you up to an altitude of 3777m in just 10 minutes, above seracs and glaciers. Take the top lift and you will reach the peak at 3842m! Welcome to the heart of the high mountains!
Perched at 3842 meters this rocky peak is a doorway to the high mountains where mountaineers mingle with tourists... with 360 degree views of all the surrounding mountains from the terraces.
New additions not to be missed this year :
The Espace Vertical to discover more about mountaineering.
The Waiting Area for its retrospective view on the construction of the cable car.
The Aile Mont-Blanc for its unforgettable view of the three peaks.
"Step into the Void" to experience the ultimate skywalk, for a guaranteed thrill in complete safety.
Ensure you have warm clothing and good shoes, as it gets cold very quickly at 3842 m. altitude Don’t forget your sunglasses, sun screen and... camera !
My favourite time to go there is spring, as you can admire the fresh snow on a nice day!
See my post about the scenic drive from/to Annecy.
I will recommend you to go there early in the morning to enjoy most of the day, you can also get a multi pass to do Montenvers train and Mer de Glace.
Most people will speak English (as plenty over there) and you can also find lunch or breakfats offers for English or English products in supermarkets but do not forget the cheese fondue!
