Gruyère, sweet little medieval town!

Gruyère is a charming small medieval town in Switzerland, approximately 2 hours drive from Annecy.

It is a nice drive along lake Leman first then in the Swiss country side.

The Gruyère Castle surmonting the medieval town is remarkable for its imposing architecture and its historical collections. The town itself has so much to appeal to one: the magnificient backdrop of Mountains, the buildings, the strange HR Giger Museum (creator of Alien) and the Tibet Museum.

The Gruyère Museum is at the bottom of the village.

Enjoy walking in the cobbled streets with beautiful houses and terrasse or around the Castle...

The food specialities here are of course the Cheese Fondue (served with potatoes and bread here) and the meringues with double cream.

We stayed one night there, it was lovely to leave the car at the bottom of the village and just stroll along the streets.
